HOUSTON -- Continuing its impressive start to the 2013 season, University of Houston Baseball cracked the nation's most prestigious Top 25 polls, ranking as high as No. 19 by USA Today/ESPN and No. 20 by Baseball America and "Collegiate Baseball", while ranking No. 22 by Perfect Game and NCBWA this week.
The Cougars jumped into everynational poll following a 5-0 week with wins over Texas and Harvard and series sweep over East Carolina to open up conference play. Houston's 21-4 record is the best 25-game start since the 1989 season.
USA TODAY/ESPN - NO. 19
The No. 19 ranking by USA Today/ESPN is the highest this week by any national poll. Houston is the highest rank team in Texas with Rice sitting at No. 20.

BASEBALL AMERICA - NO. 20
Houston joined four other new teams jumping into Baseball America's poll this week, but led the way at the No. 20 spot among the newcomers. This is the first time the Cougars have appeared in this respective Top 25 poll since the final rankings of 2006. Houston is the second highest ranked Texas school in the poll this week with Rice at No. 18.

COLLEGIATE BASEBALL - NO. 20
The "Collegiate Baseball" newspaper poll ranked Houston at No. 20 this week in its Top 30 Poll. Houston is the highest rank Conference USA team in this poll with Rice polling in at No. 28. The "Collegiate Baseball" newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.

PERFECT GAME - NO. 22
Houston also made noise in Perfect Game's Top 25 poll this week, cracking their national rankings for the first time this season. The Cougars polled in at No. 22. Houston, Rice (No. 17) and Texas A&M (No. 25) are the only three Texas schools ranked in this poll this week.

NWBCA - NO. 22
Houston moved up six spots from last week in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll from No. 28 following Week 5 to No. 22 this week. The No. 28 ranking last week was the first national ranking for the Cougars this season.

Houston will hit the road for the next four games. The Cougars will take on Lamar at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Beaumont, followed by a weekend series at Memphis.
