Lincoln Named C-USA Baseball Pitcher of the Week

May 9, 2005

HOUSTON - University of Houston sophomore right-hander Brad Lincoln was honored Monday as the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after helping lead the Cougars to a sweep of Conference USA rival Saint Louis.

Lincoln became just the eighth player in C-USA history to pitch 10 innings in a game and struck out a career-high 15 batters without yielding a walk. The Clute, Texas, native allowed only one run off five hits and retired 22 of the final 23 batters that he faced, including 15 straight during one stretch.

He teamed with reliever Justin Vaclavik to set new school and C-USA single-game record with strikeouts against the Billikens.

It was the first C-USA weekly award for Lincoln during his career.

Lincoln and his Cougar teammates return to action at 7 p.m., Tuesday, when they meet area-rival Texas A&M at Olsen Field in College Station, Texas, in a game televised live nationally on ESPN2.
