HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team wraps-up its 2008 regular-season schedule, as the Cougars play host to Conference USA-rival Marshall in a three-game series at Cougar Field.

The series begins with 6:30 p.m. games on both Thursday and Friday before concluding with the finale at 1 p.m., Saturday. Fans should note the change in the opening day of the series. The last weekend of the C-USA regular-season is always played in this format as teams prepare for their travel plans to the annual C-USA Championship.

Sophomore southpaw Wes Musick will take the mound for the Cougars on Friday. This season, Musick has thrown to a 7-4 record and a 4.32 ERA, fanning a team-high 67 batters in his 75.0 innings of work.

The Lufkin native picked up Houston's lone win against Marshall last season, surrendering only one run in seven innings and striking out five in his only career appearance against the Thundering Herd.

Houston (31-21, 11-10 C-USA) enters the weekend following a 14-4 blowout over UTSA in San Antonio on Tuesday. Every Cougar starter rapped out at least one base hit, as the Cougars pounded out 17 total hits - nine of which went for extra bases.

Senior Jake Stewart and junior Jimmy Cesario ignited the Cougars' offensive outburst against the Roadrunners.

Stewart finished with a team-best four hits, including a pair of doubles, two runs scored and a stolen base.

The Santa Fe native has provided Houston with the rare combination of speed and power, leading the team with 13 homers and swiping 22 bases. He is only the fourth player in school history to join the exclusive 10-20 Club.

Cesario has continued to swing a hot bat since returning from a wrist injury in mid-April, blasting two home runs, plating three RBIs and scoring three times in UH's non-conference finale on Tuesday.

After battling through an early slump, Cesario has his batting average hovering around .300 and is third on the club with seven long balls despite missing 10 games to injury.

All the action from this weekend's three-game set can be heard live at with Jeremy Branham calling the play-by-play, while former UH letterwinner Pat Cauley provides the analysis.

The Cougars are 5-2 all-time against Marshall and own a perfect 3-0 record in the friendly confines of Cougar Field.

Junior right-hander Steve Blevins is slated to make the start for the Thundering Herd. Blevins is 8-2 with a 4.44 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 75.0 innings.

Fellow junior Nate Lape leads Marshall at the plate with a team-best .379 batting average, 14 home runs and 52 RBIs.
