PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Houston Baseball junior Aaron Fletcher earned his third American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honor after helping the Cougars to a road series win at No. 18 UConn last weekend in a dominant Game 2 performance on the mound.
Following Fletcher’s Game 2 performance on Friday, the Cougars secured at least a share of the American regular-season title – the fifth overall title in the last five years. Houston improved to 31-20 with the series win and wrapped up league play at 16-8.
The Pitcher of the Week honor was the third for Fletcher this season as he earned the honor back on April 9 and March 26.

- Tossed 7.0 innings, allowing just one run
- Struck out five and didn’t allow a walk
- Lowered season ERA to 1.73 and career ERA to 1.81 to continue leading the program all-time
- Was part of a 10-1 win in Game 2 of Friday’s doubleheader vs. the Huskies
- Improved to 6-2 on the year with the win
Junior DH Joe Davis was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Davis led Houston at the plate, batting .429 (6-for-14) with four RBI, four runs scored, two home runs and two doubles.
The Austin, Texas native had a powerful performance in Friday’s series opener, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs, as each of his hits went for extra bases, including two doubles and a pair of home runs.
Houston Baseball will play its final midweek game of the 2018 season when it faces Rice in the Silver Glove Series finale at Constellation Field in Sugar Land on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
