HOUSTON--The University of Houston baseball team will host Memphis in its final C-USA series this week, beginning Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Cougar Field. The Cougars and the Tigers will continue the three-game set on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and conclude on Saturday at 1 p.m.

    SENIOR RECOGNITION
Houston will honor its six seniors prior to the start of Saturday's home finale. Recognized for their on and off the field honors, seniors Jared Ray, Mo Wiley, John Cannon, Codey Morehouse, Jake Runte, and Jordan Lewis will all be honored.

    LOOKING AHEAD
Houston owns a 17-30-1 overall record and a 5-15-1 mark in C-USA play entering the week's series. The Cougars currently sit in 8th place in conference standings, 1.5 games ahead of Marshall in ninth. The Top 8-of-9 teams make C-USA Championship next week in Pearl, Mississippi. Marshall meets Tulane in New Orleans, La. this weekend.

    LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars return to play after having their Tuesday, non-conference contest with UL-Lafayette cancelled due to wet field conditions and pending weather in the Houston area. Houston is looking to snap a two-game skid after dropping its last two games to C-USA opponent, Tulane last weekend. The Cougars earned a much-needed Game 1 win following a weather suspension and 12-innings with a 5-4 victory at home.

Houston is led offensively by junior Jacob Lueneburg's .313 average and team-best 52 hits and 12 stolen bases. Following Lueneburg is senior John Cannon with a .308 clip, while sophomore Landon Appling records a .301 average and team-high 26 runs scored, three homeruns. As a team, Houston is hitting .268 with 160 walks and 46 hit-by-pitches for an on-base percentage of .348.
