Houston Selected to Host NCAA Baseball Regional

HOUSTON - NCAA postseason baseball returns to Cougar Field for just the third time in program history and for the first time since 2000 as Houston Baseball was selected by the Division I NCAA Selection Committee as one of 16 regional hosts for the 2015 NCAA Baseball Championship, set for May 29-31.

After recording its second straight 40-win season and notching its first regular-season conference title since 2002, Houston Baseball was rewarded for that success.

The field of 64 teams and regional pairings for the 2015 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, including the three teams that will join the Cougars at the Houston Regional at Cougar Field on May 29-31 (June 1 - if necessary), will be announced live on ESPNU on Monday at 11 a.m. CT. Game times for the Houston Regional will be announced after the matchups have been released by the NCAA on Monday afternoon.

All-session tickets for the 2015 NCAA Regional in Houston are available online, HERE or visit UHCougars.com/regional, by phone at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647) or in person at the Houston Athletics Ticket Office located at Gate 1 of TDECU Stadium. Single-game tickets may not be an option if all-session tickets sell out. Tickets are print-at-home and will be emailed out to ticket buyers once the regional field and game times are set by the NCAA Monday.

At this time, tickets are only available for purchase to Cougar Pride members, Houston Athletics season ticket members and University of Houston students. Cougar Pride members and Houston Athletics season ticket members should check their email for promotional codes to purchase tickets.

University of Houston students can purchase all-session tickets for $30 in advance at the Houston Athletics Ticket Office window located at Gate 1 at TDECU Stadium, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Along with the 2015 NCAA Regional, which is scheduled to begin on Friday afternoon, Cougar Field also hosted the 2000 Regional after winning the C-USA Regular Season and Tournament titles and went on to host a Super Regional that same year. Houston also hosted an NCAA Regional in 1999, finishing as the regional runner-up.

Overall, this will mark the Cougars' second straight NCAA Regional appearance and 20th in program history, while only serving as a host three times (2015, 2000, 1999).

The Cougars will enter NCAA postseason play with a record of 42-18 and have won 19 of its last 23 games and holds an RPI of 14 following the American Athletic Conference Championship.

The 42-win season marks the second straight 40-win season under head coach Todd Whitting and is the first back-to-back 40-win seasons since 1999-2000 for the program. The Cougars went 25-6 at home this season, notching the second consecutive 25-season with 25 wins at Cougar Field.
