HOUSTON – University of Houston first baseman and C-USA Freshman of the Year Justin Montemayor added another accolade to his freshman campaign being named to the C-USA Championship All-Tournament team, voted on by members of the media and announced on Sunday.
Montemayor was offensively productive in all three games for the Cougars during the 2013 C-USA Championship this past week at Reckling Park.
The Austin, Texas native hit .462 with six hits, two of which were doubles, in 13 at-bats, while driving in two and scoring a run. He also slugged .615 and drew a walk in the three games. Montemayor was 4-for-4 with an intentional walk in the win over East Carolina, driving in two runs on a two-out double to give Houston the lead in the third inning.
Montemayor was one of four infielders named to the All-Tournament Team.

2013 marked the fourth straight year Houston has had a representative on the C-USA Championship All-Tournament team as outfielder Landon Appling was named in 2012.

The Cougars will now await their postseason fate in hopes for an NCAA at-large bid when the NCAA selection show happens at 11 a.m. CT on Monday, televised on ESPNU.
