HOUSTON - For the fourth time in the last five years, the University of Houston baseball team finished the season ranked among the nation's best.

After winning the NCAA Regional at College Station championship and pushing eventual national champion Rice to a deciding Game Three in the NCAA Super Regional at Reckling Park, the Cougars finished among the Top 25 leaders in all four national polls.

The Cougars came in at No. 16 in their Collegiate Baseball poll, their highest final ranking in 2003. UH also placed at No. 20 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, at No. 22 by Baseball America and at No. 24 in the Sports Weekly/ESPN poll.

UH was the only team with fewer than 40 wins ranked among the Top 25 leaders in all four polls.
