HOUSTON – After a banner freshman campaign for Houston Baseball, right-handed pitcher Andrew Lantrip has continued his stellar play this summer, earning a spot on the California Collegiate League All-Star roster as a member of the Santa Barbara Foresters.
The 2014 CCL All-Star Game will be played at the MLB Urban Youth Academy on Wednesday, July 16 at 9 p.m. CT. The game will have a national television audience on FOX Sports West.
Lantrip has made four summer appearances on the bump, recording a perfect 3-0 record and a 2.11 ERA. He has tallied 24 strikeouts to just five walks in 21.1 innings. The Livingston, Texas native is holding opponents to a .235 average and has a 4.80 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
In his most recent outing, Lantrip struck out nine in 7.2 innings of work, but was credited with the no-decision after his team won in walk-off fashion after he exited.
Lantrip and the Foresters lead the Central Division with a 21-4 league record and 26-6 overall mark.
In his freshman season, Lantrip was 6-0 with a 1.87 ERA in 14 appearances and six starts for the Cougars. He fanned 33 and walked just seven in 43.1 innings of work.
Lantrip was tabbed a Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American and the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, helping the Cougars to a 48-18 overall record and a Regional Championship.
