HOUSTON - University of Houston catcher John Cannon has been named a starter in the 2011 Cricket Wireless Texas Collegiate League All-Star game. The game, hosted by the Brazos Valley Bombers, will be played at the Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark on July 18. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The All-Star game will use the North-South format for the second-straight season. The North Division will consist of the Alexandria Aces, Coppell Copperheads and East Texas Pump Jacks, while the South Division will feature the Brazos Valley Bombers, Acadiana Cane Cutters and the Victoria Generals.

As a member of the Brazos Valley Bombers, Cannon will be representing the host team and be coached by the Bombers Brent Alumbaugh.

Cannon is batting .209 with two doubles, a triple and 14 RBIs with the Bombers. The Bombers currently stand in third place in the league standings with a 18-16 record.
