HOUSTON -- The University of Houston baseball team wrapped up its fall season with the Red Team conquering the World Series title with an 8-4 win on Thursday over the White Team at Cougar Field.

The Red Team solidified the title following a 9-5 victory on Wednesday to win two of the three scheduled intraquad scrimmages. Sophomore outfielder Price Jacobs continued its offensive prowess at the plate, leading Red with a 4-for-5 effort, driving in four and scoring twice, while also tallying his second homerun of the Series.

Also showing well at the plate for Red was junior Frankie Ratcliff (2x5, R) and sophomore Jonathan Davis (2x4, RBI, R) each with two hits. Freshman Kyle Kirk (1x3, 2B, RBI, R) and redshirt freshman Ashford Fulmer (1x4, RBI, R) each drove in a run on a base knock.

For the White Team, junior Chris Waylock (2x4, 2R), freshman Justin Montemayor (2x5), and classmate Brady Latimer (2x5) totaled six hits between the three of them. Junior Caleb Barker (1x5, 2 RBI) drove in two runs to tie the game at 4-4 in the sixth before Red went on to plate two in the latter half and two in the eighth.

Getting the start for Red was junior Daniel Poncedeleon, who tossed four innings and recorded three strikeouts. Countering him across the diamond was freshman Jacob Lemoine, who went three innings and fanned one.

Seeing action out of the pen for Red was redshirt freshman Keith Brenner, sophomore Aaron Garza, who was credited with the win, and senior Austin Pruitt, who tossed two shutout innings for the save. For White, junior Tyler  Ford, freshmen Grant Slaughter and Jared West saw action in relief of Lemoine.
