HOUSTON — The University of Houston baseball program continued its recruiting success, inking 12 to National Letters of Intent during the NCAA Early Signing Period last week, third-year head coach Todd Whitting announced.

The 2014 class of 12 features eight freshman and four junior college transfers. Nine pitchers, two infielders and an outfielder make up the class, while 11 of the 12 hail from the state of Texas and one from California.

“I am extremely excited about the quality and depth of this signing class,” Whitting said. “Coach [Trip] Couch and Coach [Frank] Anderson have done an outstanding job in addressing the needs of our team going forward. Our program continues to attract not only great players from around the country, but tremendous students who are committed to excellence both on and off the field.”
