HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team made preparations for the 2011 season with six athletes signing National Letters of Intent during the early signing period, head coach Rayner Noble announced.
Lucas Moran, Jacob Dahlstrand, Mitchell Taylor, Chase Wellbrock, Chad Rogers and Ryan Broussard will join the program during the 2011 season.
Moran a right-handed pitcher and first baseman is a product of Lutheran North High School. Dahlstrand from Memorial High School and Wellbrock out of Brenham High School are both right-handed pitchers. The final high school signee, Taylor, from Spring High School is an outfielder and left-handed pitcher.
In addition to the four high school signees, Rogers will join the Cougar squad as a right-handed pitcher and outfielder from Galveston Junior College and Broussard comes from LSU-Eunice as a right-handed pitcher and shortstop.
ABOUT THE COUGARS
The baseball team participated in fall workouts from Sept. 28-Oct. 29, including a scrimmage against Blinn College on Oct. 23. The 2010 season will open with a three-game series against Texas State on Feb. 19-21. The first pitch of the season is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 19, with the series continuing at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 20 and concluding at 1 p.m. on Feb. 21.
