One of two players from Latin America on Houston's roster...gives the Cougars a strong, physical player who can finish plays around the basket or hit a mid-range jump shot..also an excellent student in the classroom.
Junior College
Established himself as the player to watch in the Western Junior College Conference after averaging 10.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game...ranked 17th nationally in rebounding...led Midland to a third-place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament and a 30-7 record...was a First-Team, All-WJCAC selection as a sophomore...the Chaparrals also won the WJCAC Conference with a 13-1 record and the Region V Tournament...earned Honorable-Mention, All-WJCAC honors as a freshman after playing in 24 games, including 15 starts as a freshman...averaged 9.3 points and 5.1 rebounds...was selected as Midland's "Top Offensive Player" during his freshman year.
High School
Attended St. John's High School in Belize City...led St. John's to a 15-2 record during his senior season...was a member of the All-Star team at the 2001 Caricom Games.
Personal
Son of Albert and Linda Cherrington...signed with Houston after being recruited by Georgia, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, Baylor and Penn State....enjoys watching television, especially documentaries, in his spare time...hobbies include being a DJ...is a fan of the New York Knicks and Allan Houston.
