2008-09 Houston Cougars Men's Basketball Postgame Notes
** Saturday's game was only the second all-time meeting in Starkville, Miss., and the first since a 68-62 Cougar win on Nov. 30, 1983. ** Shooting 26.7 percent (21-of-76) from the field, the Cougars posted a season low in that category... It was the first time that UH show below 30 percent in a game since shooting 25.5 percent (14-of-55) at Memphis during the Conference USA Tournament championship game (March 10, 2006). ** The Cougars return to action at 7 p.m., Tuesday, to play host to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi inside Hofheinz Pavilion... It will be the first of two home games for the Cougars next week with Conference USA-rival UAB visiting Houston at 7 p.m., Saturday.
** Junior guard Aubrey Coleman recorded his third career double-double in the Cougars' last four games. ** With three double-doubles, junior guard Aubrey Coleman tied with senior center Marcus Cousin for the most double-doubles in 2008-09... Coleman and Cousin are the only Cougar players to record a double-double this season. ** With four steals, freshman point guard Desmond Wade tied his career high... He equaled his mark at Toledo (Dec. 20, 2008).
HEAD COACH Tom Penders NOTES ** With Saturday's loss, head coach Tom Penders fell to 616-413 (.599) during his career... Penders also fell to 89-52 (.631) during his UH tenure. ** Saturday's game was the first time that head coach Tom Penders faced Mississippi State during his career. ** Mississippi State was the 231st different opponent that Penders has faced during his career. |
