With Wednesday's win, the Cougars improved to 5-8 (.385) all-time against UTEP... The Cougars also earned their first road win against the Miners and moved to 1-7 (.125) all-time in El Paso, Texas.
With 34 free throws in 41 attempts, the Cougars set season highs in both categories... In fact, it was the most free throws made and attempted by the Cougars in a game since UH went 35-of-44 against C-USA rival Southern Miss on Jan. 23, 2002.
Wednesday's game was the first time in the history of the UTEP series that the road team won on their opponent's court.
Wednesday's game marked the fourth consecutive year that the Cougars played the Miners in basketball... The series resumed during the 2005-06 season and has been played at least once every year since.
The Cougars improved to 19-30 (.487) all-time in conference road openers... The Cougars improved to 2-11 (.154) all-time in Conference USA road openers.
