    TEAM NOTES

    • With Saturday's loss, the Cougars fell to 15-13 (.536) all-time against Southern Miss... The Cougars also fell to 3-8 (.273) against the Golden Eagles all-time in Hattiesburg, Miss.

    • The starting lineup of guard Desmond Wade, guard Aubrey Coleman, guard Kelvin Lewis, forward Qa'rraan Calhoun and center Marcus Cousin suffered only its second loss of the season, falling to 10-2.

    • Wednesday's game marked the 13th consecutive year that the Cougars played the Golden Eagles in basketball... The series resumed during the 1996-97 season when both teams began play in Conference USA and has been played at least once every year since.

    • The Cougars return to action at 7 p.m., Wednesday, to play host to Conference USA rival East Carolina inside Hofheinz Pavilion in Houston.

    • With 30 points, junior guard Kelvin Lewis set a career high for the second straight game... His total topped his previous best of 29 points set at Conference USA rival UTEP (Jan. 14, 2009).

    • With 30 points, junior guard Kelvin Lewis recorded the first 30-point game of his career... Lewis became the 50th different player in school history to score at least 30 points in a game.

     

     

    • With 30 points, junior guard Kelvin Lewis recorded his team-leading eight 20-point game of the season and the 11th of his career.

    • With seven 3-pointers, junior guard Kelvin Lewis tied his career high... His total equaled his previous best set against Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 13, 2008) and against Valparaiso during the College Basketball Invitational quarterfinals in Hofheinz Pavilion (March 24, 2008).

    • Going 7-of-7 from the free throw line at Conference USA rival Southern Miss on Saturday, junior guard Kelvin Lewis now has hit 29 of his last 30 free throw attempts... Lewis made his last five attempts against C-USA rival UAB (Jan. 10, 2009) and hit his first 17 free throws before missing his final attempt at C-USA rival UTEP (Jan. 14, 2009) • With 16 3-point attempts, junior guard Kelvin Lewis set a career high... His total topped his previous best of 13 set against Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 13, 2008) and against Valparaiso during the College Basketball Invitational quarterfinals in Hofheinz Pavilion (March 24, 2008).

    • With 20 field goal attempts, junior guard Kelvin Lewis set a career high... His total topped his previous best of 19 set against Valparaiso during the College Basketball Invitational quarterfinals in Hofheinz Pavilion (March 24, 2008).

    • With 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, junior guard Aubrey Coleman recorded his team-leading sixth double-double of the season... It also was his sixth double-double in the last eight games.

    • With 14 points and 10 rebounds, junior guard Aubrey Coleman moved into the team lead with his sixth double-double of the season... He broke out of the tie with senior center Marcus Cousin for the team lead.

    • With 24 points, junior guard Aubrey Coleman recorded his sixth 20-point game of the season and his career... His total trails only the seven 20-point games by junior guard Kelvin Lewis this season.

    • With 16 points, senior guard DaShaun Williams scored a season high, reaching double-digits for the first time in 2008-09... His total topped his previous season high of six points against Georgia Southern during the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer (Nov. 10, 2008).

    • With six free throws in seven attempts, senior guard DaShaun Williams set career highs in both categories... His made total topped his previous high of three set at Conference USA rival UAB (Feb. 20, 2008)... His attempts total surpassed his previous high of five set at C-USA rival UAB (Feb. 20, 2008).

    • With two 3-pointers, senior guard DaShaun Williams tied his career high... His total equaled his best done four previous times and most recently at Nevada during the 2008 College Basketball Invitational First Round (March 13, 2008).
