2008-09 Houston Cougars Men's Basketball Postgame Notes

Saturday's game was the Cougars' first overtime contest since a 75-72 loss to Conference USA rival UCF (Feb. 28, 2007)... It was the Cougars' second straight loss in overtime.
With 33 three-point attempts, the Cougars set a season high... It was the most since putting up 26 three-point attempts against Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 13, 2008).
Saturday's game at Arizona was the Cougars' final regular-season non-conference game... UH finishes the 2008-09 regular season with 12 straight Conference USA games.
With Saturday's loss, the Cougars fell to 5-6 (.455) all-time against Arizona ... In addition, the Cougars fell to 1-4 (.200) against Arizona in Tucson, Ariz.
Saturday's game marked the fourth consecutive year that the Cougars played Arizona in basketball... The series has been played at least once every year since 2005-06.
The Cougars return to action at 7 p.m., Wednesday, when they play host to Conference USA rival UTEP in Hofheinz Pavilion... The Cougars enjoyed a 94-86 win against the Miners in El Paso on Jan. 14, the team's first road win in the all-time series, snapping a seven-game losing streak there.
With 35 points, junior guard Kelvin Lewis posted a career high.. His total topped his previous best of 30 points set at Conference USA rival Southern Miss (Jan. 17, 2009).
