HEAD COACH James Dickey
"I really had them ready to play in the first few minutes of the game, didn't I? (Laughs)."
"Tulane can really shoot the ball well and although they don't have a lot of size, they do a great job at spacing, penetrating and passing. They do a tremendous job shooting the 3-pointer. I can't remember a game when we gave up 14 threes. A lot of those shots we were out there defending their shot but they just made big shots."
"I was proud of our guys to rebound after the bad start. Harris' put back and then Mo's dunk seemed to spark us, and we started to play well. We did a lot of things good in the first half like rebounding, shooting and not turning the ball over that much. We moved the ball really well, and we started to execute the offense a lot better. We didn't call a lot of set plays. Our guys just went down and executed, and that's what we want them to do. Our defense for the most part was good until late in the game."
"Our guys off the bench really came in and contribute. I was really impressed with Kendrick's defense and rebounding more than his scoring. Nick came in and did some nice things. He came up with some steals, scored some points and played good defense."
"It was a good performance, and we didn't finish as well as we wanted to, but I'm happy that we won. We have to get back to work and get ready for SMU."
"We were bigger than Tulane, so we should've rebounded better. But we should rebound better all the time. I told our guys to look at what Washington, Mo and Harris are doing. Our guards need to do a better job at rebounding."
On the shot selection
"For the most part, it was pretty good tonight. There were a few ill-advised shots. Our execution was good and, there was a nice balance between the inside and outside game. We did a nice job scoring points off turnovers."
SENIOR GUARD Zamal Nixon
On the start of the game
"We came out sluggish, but the main thing was just had to keep fighting and keep our composure. When we got the lead, we just wanted to keep building on it."
On the win
"Those last five games we've lost, we have been in the games; we just haven't been able to execute. We need to keep working on doing the little things that helped us get the win tonight, but it's only one game. We can't get too complacent. We need to keep working hard and get ready for SMU. We need to take the positives from this game and move on."
On his four steals tonight
"That's something I have been getting away from. Tonight I was able to read the rotation and get my hand in there for a steal."
SENIOR FORWARD Maurice McNeil
On the offense
"We always go inside out and when they started to seal us inside, we just kicked it back outside and our guys hit their shots or did a nice job working the ball around."
On the defense
"We really tried to deny their bigs the ball inside. The scouting report said they were going to take a lot of threes, but we just made sure they wouldn't get anything else inside."
SOPHOMORE FORWARD Kendrick Washington
"Rebounding was a big emphasis for us today. We've practiced and had a bunch of drills to improve on rebounding. One thing Coach Dickey always says about rebounding is `Who wants it more.' We just have to get out there and keep fighting for the rebounds. We also need to keep fighting on defense, scoring and everything else."
On returning to the lineup
"It was a great feeling to get back on the winning track. In the past five losses, we've held the lead, but have been unable to finish and execute."
