Houston Edged Out By Rival TCU, 71-65

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Marcus Shropshire scored 27 points and Corey Santee added 12 points and seven assists as TCU came back to beat Houston 71-65 Saturday night.

TCU (11-14, 7-7 Conference USA) trailed for most of the game until Femi Ibukunle's free throw with 4:03 left to put the Horned Frogs up 61-60 and give them the lead for good.

Andre Owens led Houston (9-16, 3-11) with 22 points, and Marcus Oliver added 15. Lanny Smith scored 11 points.

Houston held TCU to just 31 percent shooting from the field in the first half as they opened up a 34-26 halftime lead.

The Cougars led by eight points, 41-33, before Shropshire made two of his seven three-point field goals, Nucleus Smith made a pair of free throws to give the Horned Frogs a 58-57 lead. After Marcus Oliver made one of his two free throws on Houston's next possession, Ibukunle made a dunk shot to give TCU it's first lead in the game with 4:50 left to play.

Owens tied the score, 60-60, with two free throws, but Ibukunle hit one of his two free throws to give TCU the lead for good.

The loss dropped Houston's overall record to 9-16, and the Cougars are 3-11 in C-USA play. UH must win at least one of its two remaining regular season games to play in the C-USA Tournament.
