Late Rally Comes Up Short As Houston Falls 65-59 at DePaul

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - In its final regular season game, Houston couldn't overcome a slow start as the Cougars suffered a 65-59 loss at DePaul on Saturday.

The Cougars scored just 26 points in the first half and DePaul senior Sam Hoskin made his "Senior Day" celebration a memorable one as he scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Blue Demons.

DePaul took a 40-26 lead into halftime and led 51-34 with 13:08 left in the game before the Cougars valiantly tried to come back.

Houston (8-19, 6-10) went on a 14-3 run to pull within six points, 54-48, with 4:57 remaining. But, Hoskins hit four consecutive free throws to extend DePaul's lead back to 10 points.

The Cougars made one last run in the final two minutes as they closed to within five points, 62-57, with 29.6 seconds remaining.

The Blue Demons hit five of seven free throws down the stretch to hold off the Cougars..

Andre Owens led Houston with 21 points and Louis Truscott recorded his 15th double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
