Houston, Texas - Andre Owens and Anwar Ferguson combined for 46 points and 20 rebounds to lead the University of Houston to an 81-77 victory over the Texas Blue Chips in Hofheinz Pavilion.

Owens led the Cougars with 30 points and 10 rebounds as he recorded the first 30-point game of his collegiate career.

Ferguson added his first double-double as a Cougar when he scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Marcus Oliver returned from his torn ACL injury to net 15 points off Houston's bench, while Lanny Smith scored 10 points and handed out nine assists in his collegiate debut.

Zodeirck Green led the Blue Chips with 20 points, while Chris Lynch added 14 points.

Houston opens the regular season against Tennessee State on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion.
