BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Texas Tech raced out to a 17-5 lead in the first seven minutes and never looked back in taking a 76-64 win against the University of Houston Men's Basketball team during the consolation game of the Progressive Legends Classic inside the Barclays Center on Tuesday night.

Despite trailing by as many as 19 points, the Cougars continued to battle and moved to within five points midway through the second half, thanks to a 15-2 run. However, the Red Raiders answered with a 10-2 run and never led by fewer than nine points the rest of the way.

Junior forward TaShawn Thomas led all players with 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting and added six rebounds with three blocks and a pair of steals. With his scoring total, the Killeen, Texas, native became the 44th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point milestone during his collegiate career.

Sophomore point guard L.J. Rose added 11 points with a game-high five assists to lead the Cougars.

Jaye Crockett and Toddrick Gotcher each posted 16 points to lead the Red Raiders with Crockett's 12 rebounds leading all players. Robert Turner finished with 15 points, while Jordan Tolbert added 14 points and six rebounds.
