Final Stats

HOUSTON (AP) - Dominic Smith hit a 3-pointer with 1 second left, and Houston beat Rice 62-61 on Thursday night.

Smith, who was the leading scorer with 23 points, made 5 of 9 3-pointers. Patrick Okafor, Louis Truscott and George Williams also scored in the double-digits for Houston (2-2) with 11 points each.

Omar-Seli Mance lead the Owls (2-3) with 17 points. Michael Harris had 15 points and Jason McKrieth had 13.

The Cougars led Rice 30-29 at the half.
