HOUSTON (AP) - Lorenzo Williams hit a floating jumper from the baseline with 2.8 seconds left, lifting Rice to a 74-73 win over cross-town rival Houston on Tuesday night.

Williams drove the floor and hit the game-winner just after the Cougars took a 73-72 lead on Lanny Smith's jump shot with 8.1 seconds left.

The feverish finish capped a seesaw game, with the game tied seven times in the second half.

Michael Harris, who was 6-of-13 from the field, led Rice with 20 points. J.R. Harrison added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jason McKrieth scored 12 points, and Williams had 11 for the Owls (3-1).

Andre Owens scored a game-high 24 points for the Cougars (4-3), and had seven assists. Smith added 17.
