RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Eric Maynor scored a career-high 28 points and B.A. Walker had 26 as Virginia Commonwealth cruised to a 102-84 win over Houston Saturday night.

Houston (4-2) held the game close early on, leading by one with 13:36 left in the first half.

But VCU (5-2) then broke it open, carrying the Rams to 49-27 lead at halftime.

The Cougars outscored VCU in the second half, 57-53, and shot 58.3 percent, but that wasn't enough.

The Rams also shot well in the second half, making 60 percent.

Jesse Pellot-Rosa scored 20 and Michael Anderson 11 for VCU. Maynor also had a career-high 11 assists.

Robert Lee led Houston with 21 points and Oliver Lafayette and Robert McKiver each had 15.
