** With Sunday's loss, the Cougars saw their 10-game home winning streak at Hofheinz Pavilion snapped... It was the Cougars' first home loss since an 89-77 loss to #1/1 Memphis on Jan. 30, 2008.
** With Sunday's loss, the Cougars saw their seven-game overall winning streak snapped... It was the team's longest winning streak since reeling off 10 consecutive victories from Nov. 16, 2007 to Jan. 2, 2008.
** The Cougars fell to 3-2 (.600) all-time against Iowa State... The loss also snapped the Cougars' three-game winning streak against the Cyclones... It was UH's first lost to Iowa State since a 92-73 setback on Dec. 3, 1956, in Ames, Iowa, during the first game of the series.
** The Cougars fell to 1-1 (.500) all-time against Iowa State in Houston... Sunday's game was the first meeting against the Cyclones in Hofheinz Pavilion since an 83-82 win on Jan. 10, 1990.
** Sunday's home attendance of 3,362 was a season high for the Cougars... It topped the previous high of 3,217 against Western Kentucky during the home opener on Nov. 15, 2008.
** The Cougars return to action at 1 p.m., Tuesday, against Massachusetts inside Hofheinz Pavilion... Fans and members of the media should note that the starting time for the UMass game recently was moved up to accommodate fans who also wished to see the Cougar Football team play Air Force at 11 a.m., Wednesday, in Fort Worth, Texas, during the 2008 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl.
** With 28 points, junior guard Aubrey Coleman set a personal best in that category... His total topped his previous best of 24 points at Middle Tennessee (Dec. 2, 2008).
** With 28 points, junior guard Aubrey Coleman recorded his third game with at least 20 points during his career.
** Playing all 40 minutes, junior guard Aubrey Coleman set a personal best in that category... His total topped his previous high of 38 minutes at Toledo (Dec. 20, 2008). ** Junior guard Kelvin Lewis played all 40 minutes in a game for the third time this season... Lewis previously did that at Middle Tennessee (Dec. 2, 2008) and at Toledo (Dec. 20, 2008).
** With nine rebounds, junior forward Qa'rraan Calhoun set a personal best in that category... His total topped his previous high of eight rebounds, done four times and most recently against Alcorn State (Nov. 18, 2008).
** Junior forward Sean Coleman made his second start of the season and his first since the Cougars faced Georgia Southern during the opening game of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer in Durham, N.C. (Nov. 10, 2008)
** With three assists, freshman point guard Desmond Wade saw his streak of games with at least four assists snapped at seven.
** With three assists and six turnovers, freshman point guard Desmond Wade competed in the first game of his collegiate career with more turnovers than assists.
** With 38 points, Iowa State forward Craig Brackins became the first player to score at least 35 points against the Cougars since Louisiana-Monroe's Mike Smith scored 36 against UH (Dec. 15, 1999).
** With Sunday's loss, head coach Tom Penders fell to 1-2 (.333) all-time during his career against Iowa State with both games coming during his tenure at Texas... Sunday's game was the first time that he faced the Cyclones at the head of the UH bench.
