** The Cougars improved to 1-1 all-time against Massachusetts ... Tuesday's game was the first meeting between the two teams in Houston.
** Sunday's home attendance of 3,623 was a season high for the Cougars... It topped the previous high of 3,362 against Iowa State during the home opener on Dec. 28, 2008.
** The Cougars return to action at 3 p.m., Saturday, at Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss.
** Junior forward Qa'rraan Calhoun scored a career-high 26 points, and junior guard Kelvin Lewis added 20 points in Tuesday's win over Massachusetts... It was the first time the Cougars had two 20-point scorers in one game since Robert McKiver (33 points) and Lewis (28 points) accomplished the feat against Valparaiso during the 2008 College Basketball Invitational quarterfinals (March 24, 2008).
** With 26 points, junior guard Qa'rraan Calhoun set a personal best in that category... His total topped his previous high of 21 points set when he was a member of St. John's against Providence (March 4, 2007).
** Junior forward Qa'rraan Calhoun played all 40 minutes for the first time in his career... His total topped his previous best of 38 minutes set as a member of St. John's against Marquette (March 7, 2007).
** With 16 points and 12 rebounds, junior guard Aubrey Coleman recorded his the second double-double of his career and the 2008-09 season... Coleman posted 15 points and 13 rebounds at Toledo (Dec. 20, 2008).
** With 20 points, junior guard Kelvin Lewis recorded the fifth 20-point game of the 2008-09 season and the eighth of his career.
** Junior guard Kelvin Lewis played all 40 minutes for the fourth time this season... It also was the fourth time he played all 40 minutes in the last five games.
** With eight assists, senior guard DaShaun Williams set a personal best... His total topped his previous high of five set against Valparaiso during the College Basketball Invitational quarterfinals (March 24, 2008).
** With 37 minutes, senior guard DaShaun Williams set a season high... His total topped his previous season high of 31 minutes against Georgia Southern during the season opener at the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer (Nov. 10, 2008).
** With Tuesday's win, head coach Tom Penders improved to 8-5 (.615) all-time against Massachusetts during his career... Penders also improved to 1-1 against UMass during his tenure at UH.
