HOUSTON - After leading the Cougars to their fourth win in the last five games, University of Houston freshman forward Alandise Harris was honored Monday as the Conference USA Freshman of the Week.

Playing all but three minutes, Harris scored a career-high 19 points with 11 rebounds for the second double-double of his career at SMU last weekend. The Little Rock, Ark., native led the Cougars in field goal attempts, free throws made, free throw attempts, rebounds and blocks.

With the Cougars clinging to a 1-point lead late, he grabbed an offensive rebound, put it back up and was fouled. Harris calmly stepped to the charity stripe and drained both free throw attempts to give Houston a 3-point cushion with just 13 seconds remaining.

He finished the game 7-of-8 from the free throw line against the Mustangs and has connected on 16-of-18 free throw attempts in the last two games.

It was the first C-USA Freshman of the Week Award for Harris.

SMU's Papa Dia was honored as the league's Player of the Week.
