After winning six of its seven previous games, the University of Houston men's basketball team returns home to begin a three-game homestand when the Cougars play host to East Carolina in a Conference USA game this Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion.
Houston enters the game with a 12-10 overall record and a 6-3 C-USA mark after beating SMU, 64-49, in Dallas last Wednesday night for its sixth win in the last seven games. In that game, senior guard Oliver Lafayette scored 20 points and collected four steals to lead the Cougars. Robert Lee added 13 points off the bench and Robert "Fluff" McKiver added 11 points.
East Carolina (5-17, 0-9 in C-USA play) is in the midst of a nine-game losing streak after suffering a 67-49 loss against UCF last Wednesday night in Greenville, N.C. In that game, senior guard Courtney Captain scored 15 points, while freshman forward John Fields recorded his second double-double performance of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Houston also will be looking to win its fifth straight home game against the Pirates after recording wins over SMU, UCF, Saint Louis and Rice.
Youths who attended the Tom Penders Basketball Camps last summer can attend the ECU game for free if they wear their camp T-Shirts.
Immediately following the game, all Cougar fans will have a chance to get free autographs of this year's team on the concourse level. Fans can also have their pictures taken with their favorite players.
