HOUSTON -- Winners of its last five games, the University of Houston Men's Basketball returns from action after a week-long break when they take on American Athletic Conference leader No. 19/23 SMU at 5 p.m., Saturday, inside Hofheinz Pavilion.

Saturday's game features two of The American's top-four leaders in the league standings and in scoring offense.

Junior guard Rob Gray leads the Cougars and the American Athletic Conference with 20.5 points per game, while senior guard Damyean Dotson ranks fourth with 17.2 points per game The Cougars are the only team with two of the league's top-four scoring leaders.

The Cougars (18-7 • 9-4 The American) will have revenge on their minds after the Mustangs claimed an 85-64 win in Dallas on Jan. 21. A year ago, Houston enjoyed a 71-68 win over SMU on Feb. 1, 2016, during the most recent meeting inside Hofheinz Pavilion.

Including Saturday's game, Houston fans have only three more games inside historic Hofheinz Pavilion. With the completion of the 2016-17 campaign, the facility will undergo a $60 million renovation before being transformed into the Fertitta Center for the 2018-19 season.
