American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Damyean Dotson

HOUSTON – University of Houston junior guard Damyean Dotson was honored as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Cougars to a pair of league road wins at UCF and at UConn last week.

Dotson averaged 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game and led the Cougars in scoring in each game. The Houston native connected on 66.7 percent (16-of-24) from the field, including 50 percent (7-of-14) from the 3-point line, and is the only Cougar to start all 29 games to date this season.

He posted 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting with three 3-pointers and six rebounds in a dominating 88-61 win at UCF on Wednesday. The Yates High product followed that with an impressive 22-point, 14-rebound performance at UConn on Sunday afternoon for his team-leading sixth double-double of the season.

This season, Dotson leads the Cougars and ranks 11th in the league with 6.9 rebounds per game and ranks 12th in the conference with 13.9 points per contest.

Cincinnati’s Jacob Evans was named the league’s Rookie of the Week. UCF center Tacko Fall, East Carolina guard Kentrell Barkley, Memphis forward Dedric Lawson, SMU forward Ben Moore and Temple forward Obi Enechionyia were named to the American Weekly Honor Roll.
