HOUSTON - After helping lead the University of Houston men's basketball team last week, junior guard Aubrey Coleman was honored Monday as the Conference USA Rookie of the Week.
It was his sixth weekly award from Conference USA this season and his fifth Rookie of the Week honor.
Coleman scored 12 points and added a game-high five steals during Wednesday's loss at C-USA rival Tulsa.
He followed that with his team-leading 10th double-double at Conference USA-rival Rice on Saturday. The Houston native recorded 12 points with a game-high 12 rebounds to lead the Cougars to a 56-51 win against the Owls.
During the Cougars' 15-2 run in the final 5:22, Coleman added four points to help UH rally from an 8-point deficit and earn their sixth straight win against the Owls.
This season, Coleman leads the Cougars with 19.7 points and ranks second on the team with 7.9 rebounds per game. He is the only player in the league to rank among the top-four individual leaders in both scoring and rebounding.
Marshall guard/forward Markel Humphrey and UCF guard Jermaine Taylor shared the C-USA Player of the Week award.
