Dyer, Lafayette, Smith Earn All-Conference USA Honors

Houston - The University of Houston's Ramon Dyer, Oliver Lafayette and Lanny Smith were named All-Conference USA selections in a vote of the league's 12 head coaches and select media.

Dyer and Lafayette were named Second-Team, All-C-USA selections, while Smith was a Third-Team, All-C-USA honoree.

A two-time Conference USA Player of the Week selection this season, Dyer is averaging 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Lafayette leads the Cougars and ranks third among Conference USA scoring leaders with 15.6 points per game. He also leads the league in steals with 3.22 per contest.

Smith has averaged 11.9 points and ranks third among Conference USA leaders in assists with 5.46 per game this season despite battling ankle and hamstring injuries most of the year.

The All-C-USA Teams consisted of Rodney Carney and Darrius Washington, Jr. of Memphis, Squeaky Johnson of UAB, John Tofi of UTEP and Morris Almond of Rice on the First Team.

In addition to Dyer and Lafayette, the second team consists of Corey Rouse of East Carolina, Marvett McDonald of UAB and Jason Williams of UTEP.

The third team consists of Smith, Shawne Williams of Memphis, Bryan Hopkins of SMU, Quincy Davis of Tulane and Mark Patton of Marshall.
