HOUSTON - University of Houston men's basketball fans who may not be able to travel to the Pacific Northwest this weekend for the NCAA Tournament can still support their favorite team and members of the military.
The University of Houston Athletics Department has been allotted 350 tickets for that game. Due to the distance from Houston and cost of travel, many fans may be unable to join the team in person this weekend.
To support the program, fan donations are now being accepted to cover the cost of tickets from the allotment. These tickets will be donated to military members in the Spokane area.
Donations of $65 will cover the cost of one ticket, but donations of any amount are welcome.
While fans will not receive Cougar Pride credit, their donations are tax deductible, and fans will receive one priority point for every $100 donated.
Donations toward NCAA Tournament tickets may be made in person at the Houston Athletics Ticket Office or by calling 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647).
The Cougars' face No. 4 seed and 20th-ranked Maryland around 8:40 p.m. (CDT), Friday during the NCAA Tournament Midwest Region First Round at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane, Wash.
