March 29, 2018

HOUSTON - Coming off one of the program’s best seasons in decades, University of Houston Men’s Basketball fans can begin preparing for the 2018-19 season when the Cougars compete in the $60-million Fertitta Center for the first time with the announcement of season-ticket pricing.

With the Fertitta Center seating map unveiled Thursday, fans may purchase season tickets for the 2018-19 season for as low as $175 beginning this summer. Fans also have the opportunity to purchase from a variety of Luxury Seating and Priority Chairback options, like Courtside, BarcaLounger, Loge, Club and Terrace seats.

University of Houston graduates from the previous five academic years qualify for special Young Alumni pricing of only $125.

Fans now have the opportunity to take their first steps toward the 2018-19 season by placing a $30 deposit on 2018-19 season tickets at UHCougars.com/mbbdeposit or by calling 713-462-6647.

“With 27 wins, a perfect home record and an NCAA Tournament victory, Houston Basketball fans can be proud of all our team accomplished in 2017-18. As we prepare to move into the Fertitta Center, it is critical for all our fans to support Coach Sampson, his staff and our student-athletes as they continue to return our program to national prominence,” Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman said. “The Fertitta Center will be a state-of-the-art facility for our fans and give the Cougars a distinct home-court advantage unlike any other school in the nation.”

As the city of Houston’s newest multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility, the Fertitta Center will provide luxurious and fan-friendly experiences for a multitude of events in the years to come.

With the completion of the 2016-17 season, the former Hofheinz Pavilion began a $60 million renovation that will transform the facility into the state-of-the-art Fertitta Center.

Made possible by a generous $20 million gift from University of System Board of Regents Chairman Tilman J. Fertitta and his family in August 2016, the facility will feature premium and courtside clubs.

A reconfigured bowl will put fans closer to the action with floor-level seating opposite the team benches for University of Houston students.

Under the leadership of 2017-18 American Athletic Conference and NABC District 25 Coach of the Year Kelvin Sampson, the Cougars enjoyed one of the best seasons in recent decades.

The Cougars posted a 27-8 overall record and tied for second in the American Athletic Conference. Advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010, Sampson led the Cougars to their first NCAA Tournament victory since 1984 in a thrilling 67-65 win over San Diego State.

The Cougars fell just a buzzer-beater away from advancing to the Sweet 16 in a loss to seventh-ranked and eventual NCAA Final Four participant Michigan.

When the Cougars open their 2018-19 home season, they will do so riding one of the nation’s longest home winning streaks. Houston enjoyed a perfect 15-0 record inside H&PE Arena on the campus of nearby Texas Southern University with victories over Top-10 opponents Cincinnati and Wichita State.

Sophomore guard Armoni Brooks was honored as the American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year, while guard Rob Gray was a First-Team performer by the American Athletic Conference, NABC District 25 and USBWA District VII. Freshman forward Fabian White Jr. earned a place on the league’s All-Rookie Team.
