Owens scores 12 points in semifinals of Portsmouth Invitational

Portsmouth, Va. - University of Houston senior guard Andre Owens scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out three assists to help the Portsmouth Sports Club to a 92-59 victory over the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in the semifinals of the 2005 Portsmouth Invitational Friday night.

Quemont Greer of DePaul led Portsmouth with 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Kentucky's Chuck Hayes added 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Portsmouth will play against Holiday Inn Portsmouth in the championship game of the tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Holiday Inn defeated Norfolk Sports Club, 99-90, in the other semifinal game. David Logan scored 23 points and Jared Homan added 20 points for Holiday Inn. Jeremiah Massey led Norfolk with 18 points, while Rob Little added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jason McKrieth of Rice also tallied 13 points and six assists for Norfolk.
