Cedrick Alley Jr. Joins Cougars

April 12, 2017

HOUSTON -- Klein Forest High School star Cedrick Alley Jr. signed a National Letter of Intent and will compete with the Cougars for the 2017-18 season, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Wednesday.

Alley, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 235 pounds, will play as a freshman and have four years of eligibility. The Houston native chose the Cougars over Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Boise State

"I am excited when I think of what Cedrick is going to be. He is not a 1 or a 2 or a 3 or a 4 or a 5. Cedrick is just a basketball player. Cedrick shoots when he should shoot, and he passes when he should pass. That tells me he knows how to play," Sampson said "When we recruit in Houston, we have to get the right Houston player. That means someone who fits our culture and is a winner. Cedrick fits all those boxes."

As a senior for Head Coach Cary Black, Alley joined incoming freshman Fabian White Jr. (Atascocita HS) as a finalist for the Guy V. Lewis Award, presented to the top high school player in the city of Houston.

Alley was named to the Houston Chronicle All-Greater Houston First Team and was selected for the TABC Class 6A All-State Team for the second straight season.

He led the Golden Eagles to 34 straight win and a berth in the Regional final before falling to Skyline High School. Alley was named the District 16-6A Most Valuable Player for the second straight season and scored 33 points with 13 rebounds in a win over Stratford High School.

Alley joins Mansfield Lake Ridge High School guard Mike Adewunmi, Saddleback Junior College Breaon Brady; Three Rivers Community College forward Gabe Grant and Atascocita High School forward Fabian White Jr., in the Cougars' signing class.
