University of Houston head football coach Kevin Sumlin and head basketball coaches James Dickey and Todd Buchanan will headline the annual University of Houston Day presented by Frenchy's Chicken, sponsored by the Touchdown Club of Houston. The luncheon is set for Noon, Wed., May 25 at the JW Marriott.
Sumlin will discuss the upcoming 2011 season and the return of Heisman Trophy candidate Case Keenum for his sixth year of eligibility. The UH gridders look to return to postseason bowl play with a home schedule that features Pac-10 foe UCLA as well as in-state rivals SMU and Rice. UH returns 14 starters, including seven on an offense that ranked in the top-15 nationally in passing, total and scoring offense.
Fans will hear Dickey talk about the highly touted men's basketball recruiting class of seven who will join the four returning scholarship players for the 2011-12 men's basketball season.
Buchanan is coming off one of the most successful season's in UH women's basketball history with a Conference USA Championship, a trip to the NCAA Championship and a sweep of the league's Coach and Player of the Year honors.
Tickets for the luncheon are $40, with tables being priced at $400, $500 (bronze table sponsorship), $1,000 (silver table sponsorship), $1,500 (gold table sponsorship) and $5,000 (platinum table sponsorship).

The Touchdown Club of Houston assists area high schools through community service projects like the "Play It Smart" program. The Club has awarded more than $170,000 in scholarships to almost 200 high school athletes in the Greater Houston area in the past 12 years. Additionally, the club has donated nearly $160,000 in weights and weight equipment to 32 Greater Houston area schools in the past eight years.
SEASON TICKET RENEWALS: Season ticket renewals for 2011 are underway with the deadline of May 13. New season ticket orders are also on sale. Tickets options start as low as $130 and include the Family Fun Plan, which includes two adult and two youth South End Zone General Admission Season tickets for only $275. An added feature for 2011, the UH Athletic Ticket Office will offer a bill plan payment option through credit card or echeck. The initial payment will be due to the customer at the time of renewal with the two additional payments slotted for June 5 and July 5.
SEAT `EM UP DRIVE PART II: Last season the volunteers involved in the Seat 'Em Up Drive helped create 2,200 new season tickets and UH to become the largest growing fan base in FBS football. With so much success, the group is back for another round of recruiting Cougar fans.
