HOUSTON -- -- As the University of Houston Men's Basketball program begins summer workouts, the team learned the breakdown of its 2017-18 American Athletic Conference schedule, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Thursday.
With the recent addition of Wichita State boosting the league's baseball membership to 12 school, each American team will play seven of its opponents twice and its remaining opponents once each, two at home and two on the road.
For the 2017-18 season, the Cougars will face Cincinnati, East Carolina, SMU, Temple, Tulane, USF and Wichita State twice during the regular season. Houston will compete against UConn and Tulsa at home while facing UCF and Memphis in away contests only.
American Athletic Conference game times and dates will be released later this summer.
The Cougars previously announced that they will be competing at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Nov. 17-20 and at the Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase on Dec. 20.
Houston opens the Paradise Jam on Nov. 17 against Drexel and will face the winner/loser of Mercer-Liberty before closing out the tournament on Nov. 20.
In late December, the Cougars meet Providence for only the second time in school history and the first time since 1965 when they square off inside Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
