HOUSTON – Former University of Houston guard Jonathon Simmons recently joined the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs after signing a two-year contract.
With his signing, Simmons will become the 26th Cougar to compete in the NBA and the first since former center Marcus Cousin played for the Utah Jazz during the 2010-11 season.
As a junior during the 2010-11 season, Simmons led the Cougars and ranked eighth in Conference USA with 14.7 points per game. He ranked as the Cougars’ leader in field goals (154), field goal attempts (301), free throws made (101), free throw percentage (71.6) and total points (441).
The Midland, Texas, native scored 20 points against Oklahoma on the way to being named to the RAMAFA All-College Classic All-Tournament Team. Later in the season, he led all players with a career-high 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a win against Southern Miss. He was recognized as C-USA Player of the Week following that performance.
After going undrafted following the 2011-12 season, Simmons competed in various leagues and played for the NBA Development League’s Austin Spurs in 2014-15, averaging 15.2 points per game and hitting nearly 40 percent of his 3-point attempts.
Season-ticket deposits for the 2015-16 University of Houston Men’s Basketball season are now being taken, and fans are encouraged to place their deposits soon.
Reserved 1 season tickets will soon be available for $250 per seat for all 18 regular-season home games, while Reserved 2 season tickets will sell for $150 per seat. As an added benefit this season, fans who purchase Reserved 1 Men’s Basketball season tickets will receive the same number of Houston Women’s Basketball season tickets FREE.
For the first time in 2015-16, fans also can purchase $99 Anytime season tickets. With Anytime season tickets, With Anytime season tickets, fans will receive one ticket for each of the 18 regular-season home games.
From there, fans can use their Anytime season tickets any way they like. They can use one ticket for each home game or take 17 friends to one home game or any combination in between.

Any deposit amount paid will be credited toward season-ticket costs once they go on sale. New season-ticket members who make a deposit will be contacted by a Houston Athletics Ticket Sales staff member to choose their seats.
