Men's Basketball to Compete on Television Five Times in 2012-13
Oct. 4, 2012
HOUSTON - With a little more than a week before the official start of practice, the University of Houston Men's Basketball team will compete on television five times during the 2012-13 season, head coach James Dickey announced Thursday afternoon.
The Cougars will meet former Southwest Conference rival Texas A&M at 3 p.m., Dec. 1, inside Hofheinz Pavilion in a game televised by FOX Sports Net. Houston makes its second appearance of the season on FOX Sports Net on Feb. 16 at Conference USA-rival Tulsa.
Houston will have three games televised on CSS during the final five weeks of the season. The Cougars play host to C-USA rival Tulane inside Hofheinz Pavilion on Feb. 9, compete at Memphis on Feb. 20 and meet Marshall on March 2 inside Hofheinz Pavilion.
This marks the 33rd consecutive season in which the Cougars will appear on television. It also marks the 15th straight year that at least three Houston basketball games will be televised. The Cougars have won at least two televised games during each of the last 11 years.
In addition to the televised games, the Cougars also released the starting times for this season's games.
In an ongoing effort to best accommodate fans, the Cougars moved up several of their non-televised Saturday Conference USA games to 5 p.m. Two other Saturday C-USA home games will begin at 1 p.m., due to television.
Fans should note that the Cougars open the regular season at noon, Nov. 9, vs. Florida A&M inside Hofheinz Pavilion. With plenty of Homecoming activities surrounding that weekend, the season opener's starting time was moved into the early afternoon for fans wishing to watch the Cougars in action and enjoy Homecoming activities that day, including the Athletics Hall of Honor Gala later that evening.
The exhibition season begins at 7 p.m., Nov. 6, when the Cougars play host to Concordia inside Hofheinz Pavilion. The Cougars start practice at 5 p.m., Oct. 12.
