    University of Houston basketball fans will have their first opportunity to meet the 2000-01 men's and women's basketball teams on October 14, 2000 when the University of Houston hosts Cougar Madness on the Guy V. Lewis Court in Hofheinz Pavilion.

    Cougar Madness, which is hosted by Van Chancellor, coach of the four-time WNBA champion Houston Comets, will begin at 7:00 p.m. Doors to Hofheinz Pavilion open at 6:30 p.m.

    Activities for fans include a Kiddie Dunk Contest, a Papa John's Pizza Shooting Contest and entertainment provided by the Cougar Brass, UH Cheerleaders and Cougar Dolls. In addition, fans will have the chance to shoot for $10,000 and UH students will have a chance to shoot for free tuition and fees for one semester.

    After UH women's head coach Joe Curl and new men's basketball coach Ray McCallum introduce their teams and staff, the Lady Cougars will open workouts with a fast break drill and three-point shooting contest.

    The Cougars will compete in a scrimmage, three-point shooting contest and a slam-dunk contest. Following the slam-dunk contest, both teams will be available for autographs.
