HOUSTON - A new atmosphere will lead to plenty of excitement during the University of Houston men's basketball games inside Hofheinz Pavilion in 2011-12!
As they continue to prepare for the upcoming season, the Cougars are looking for their voice inside their home arena. Houston will hold open auditions for public address announcer at its games from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30. Applicants should arrive early to Hofheinz Pavilion to register and prepare.
Candidates will read from a prepared script, consisting of team introductions, a contest read, a sponsor read and an exciting play. Judges will grade each speaker on a variety of subjects, including voice strength, voice inflection and personality.
The top candidates will be called back for second and final auditions and interviews.
This event is open to students and non-students.
Men's basketball season tickets are now available at the Houston Athletics Ticket Office. General admission season tickets begin as low as $135, while reserved seating season tickets start as low as $125.
Families will enjoy the Family Fun Plan. For only $299, families receive two adult and two youth general admission season tickets. Additional youth season tickets in the Family Fun Plan can be purchased for $75 each.

The Cougars open their 2011-12 season at 7 p.m., Nov. 8, when they play host to Concordia University in their lone exhibition contest. From there, Houston begins the regular season at 7 p.m., Nov. 12 against Grambling State inside Hofheinz Pavilion.
That will be the first of 18 regular-season home games for the Cougars, including TCU (Nov. 26), LSU (Nov. 29) and Memphis (Jan. 14).
