#AmericanHoops Media Day on Monday

PHILADELPHIA - University of Houston Men’s Basketball Head Coach Kelvin Sampson, senior guard Damyean Dotson, junior guard Rob Gray Jr and sophomore point guard Galen Robinson Jr. will represent the Cougars during Monday’s American Athletic Conference Media Day.

Fans can tune in beginning at 7 a.m. (CDT) Monday as coverage begins on the American Digital Network with Commissioner Mike Aresco’s opening remarks. Sampson and Dotson will appear on the live show at 8:14 a.m. (CDT), with hosts Hali Oughton and Mike O’Donnell. Fans can watch the live stream for free by clicking here.

ESPNU will have coverage of American Media Day on College Basketball Live, beginning at 2 p.m. (CDT) with Brendan Fitzgerald and Dino Gaudio in studio and Tim Welsh on site at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott. Fans can tune in to College Basketball Live by clicking here.

In addition to their media commitments, three Cougars will aid in a community-service project, building bags for children in need.

The Coaches Preseason Poll, Preseason Player of the Year, Preseason Rookie of the Year and Preseason All-Conference First- and Second-Team honorees will be announced Monday morning prior to the men’s and women’s sessions.

Dotson was a 2016 All-American Athletic Conference Honorable Mention after leading the Cougars with 6.2 rebounds per game and competing as one of only three players to rank among the league’s top-11 leaders in both scoring AND rebounding.

Robinson became the sixth freshman in school history to post 100+ assists in a single season and finished eighth in the league with 3.4 assists per game. Gray enters the 2016-17 season as The American’s leading returning scorer after averaging 16.0 points per game a year ago.

Season tickets for the University of Houston Men’s Basketball program’s 2016-17 campaign are now on sale through the Houston Athletics Tickets Office.

For as low as $80, fans can purchase season tickets to all 16 regular-season game plus two exhibition contests during the final season inside Hofheinz Pavilion. Reserved 2 seating is available for only $130, while fans can enjoy Reserved 1 seating for $225.

The Cougars open the season on Nov. 5 when they play host in an exhibition game to UNC Pembroke, the alma mater of Head Coach Kelvin Sampson.

Houston opens the regular season at 7 p.m., Nov. 11, when it meets Morgan State inside Hofheinz Pavilion. The Cougars square off in 15 more regular-season home contests with games against 2016 NCAA Tournament participants UConn, Temple, Cincinnati and Tulsa as well as Rhode Island, Harvard and Cornell.

Current University of Houston main campus students are admitted FREE to all Men’s Basketball games with valid IDs.

Main campus students may purchase up to two (2) student guest tickets to each Men’s Basketball game for $5 each, based on availability.
