HOUSTON - With less than a month before the start of the season, University of Houston men's and women's basketball fans can catch their first glimpses of the Cougars during the Houston Hardwood Tip-Off presented by Chipotle.

The event begins at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, in the Cougar Den (volleyball court) on the first floor of the Athletics/Alumni Center, and admission is free to all fans, who are invited to attend. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a free Houston Basketball t-shirt.

Chipotle is a proud sponsor of the Houston Hardwood Tip-Off and will give away free burritos to the first 100 fans. Representatives also will give out prize packs, which include free dinner coupons, t-shirts and foam burritos.

Men's head coach James Dickey and women's head coach Todd Buchanan will lead their respective teams on the court for a variety of competitions.

In the 2-Ball competition, one men's team player and one women's team player will square off against one another in a shooting competition. The men's team also will take part in a Slam Dunk competition, in which celebrity judges will determine the winner.

In both the 2-Ball and Slam Dunk competitions, fans will be selected from the crowd to represent each team. If their team wins the competition, the selected fans win prizes.

The fun-filled event wraps up with an autograph session featuring both teams. Posters and schedule cards for both teams will be available throughout the event.

The Spirit of Houston, Houston Cheer and the Cougar Dolls also are scheduled to make special appearances.
