Houston - The University of Houston will host a "Cougar Showcase" at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in Hofheinz Pavilion as part of its annual Homecoming festivities. The Showcase will feature a pep rally for the UH football team, a preview of the Cougar men's and women's basketball teams, and "Strut Your Stuff" acts which will be performed by various student organizations.
The pep rally will be for Houston's football team before this Saturday's game against Tulsa in a showdown that could decide which team will win the West Division of Conference USA this season. The Cougars enter the game with a 4-1 league record and a 6-3 overall mark, while the Golden Hurricane are 4-0 in league play and have a 7-1 overall record. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Both basketball teams will be introduced with head coaches, Joe Curl and Tom Penders, providing a season preview of each squad. In addition, four members of the women's team will challenge four members of the audience in a "2 Ball Contest", before four members of the men's team compete in a three-point shooting contest and the entire men's team play a full-court 5-on-5 scrimmage.
