HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to action at 7 p.m., Wednesday, when it meets Angelo State in the team's second and final exhibition game of the season inside Hofheinz Pavilion.
The Cougars enter Wednesday's game following a 93-52 win over Morgan State on Friday night inside Hofheinz Pavilion. In that game, junior guard and 2016 Preseason All-American Athletic Conference honoree Rob Gray led Houston with 22 points and four 3-pointers and added five rebounds with four assists and a pair of steals.
Making his Houston debut, junior forward Devin Davis scored 19 points with 12 rebounds to set career highs in both categories and record the first double-double of his career. The Indianapolis native joined the Houston in the summer after earning NJCAA All-America First-Team honors a year ago.
For his impressive performance, Davis was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
Senior forward Danrad Knowles -- the Cougars' only three-year letterman -- scored 14 points with seven rebounds as the Cougars rolled to a 41-point, season-opening win for the second straight season.
This will be the Cougars' last home game for nearly two weeks. Houston won't return to the friendly confines of Hofheinz Pavilion until facing Cornell at 4 p.m., Nov. 26.
