HOUSTON - University of Houston guard Aubrey Coleman was named Conference USA Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday after helping lead the Cougars to a pair of wins last week.
Coleman, a junior transfer from Southwest Mississippi Community College, averaged 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and three steals as Houston posted wins against Presbyterian and UTEP.
He netted a team-high 18 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the field, in just 21 minutes of action against the Blue Hose on Nov. 11. His four steals led all players.
In Saturday's game against the Hilltoppers, Coleman scored 10 of the Cougars' final 13 points, including a pair of dunks, to ice the game. His 19 points led all scorers.
Tyreke Evans of Memphis shared the Rookie award with Coleman. UAB's Lawrence Kinnard was named C-USA Player of the week.
Coleman and his Cougar teammates return to action at 7 p.m., Tuesday, when UH plays host to Alcorn State at Hofheinz Pavilion.
