HOUSTON - The University of Houston men's basketball team puts its home winning streak on the line at 7 p.m., Tuesday, when the Cougars play host to Louisiana inside Hofheinz Pavilion.

Winners of each of their first three games to open the 2010-11 season, the Cougars have won six straight contests in front of the hometown fans dating back to last year.

In their most recent action, the Cougars used hot shooting and balanced scoring to take an 81-58 win against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday in Hofheinz Pavilion. Senior forward Maurice McNeil returned to his double-double form with 16 points and 10 rebounds against the Rangers and led five Cougars with double-digit points.

Junior guard Darian Thibodeaux added 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including three 3-pointers, while sophomore forward Kendrick Washington finished with 13 points.

This season, McNeil leads the Cougars and ranks among the Conference USA individual leaders with 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. The New York native has recorded three double-doubles through the first four games.

Senior guard Adam Brown ranks second with 14.0 points per game, while sophomore forward and The Woodlands, Texas, native Kirk Van Slyke has added 4.5 rebounds per contest.

Senior guard Zamal Nixon has been one of the most versatile players on the Cougar team this season, averaging 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.8 steals per game.

ABOUT LOUISIANA
Louisiana brings a 1-3 overall record into Tuesday's game following a 60-55 loss to Cleveland State in Lafayette, La., on Friday. It was the Cajuns' second straight setback.

The Cajuns enjoyed a 91-66 victory against Louisiana College on Nov. 15 in Lafayette.

Junior guard David Perez leads the Cajuns with 13.3 points per game. Senior guard Randell Daigle ranks second on the team with 12.8 points per contest and is one of four Cajuns averaging double-digit points.

Senior forward Travis Bureau paces the team with 7.9 rebounds per contest.

Now in his first year at Louisiana, head coach Bob Marlin has posted a 1-3 (.250) record with the Cajuns. He assembled a 225-131 (.632) recorded at Sam Houston State from 1998 to 2010.

SERIES HISTORY vs. LOUISIANA
Houston owns a 7-6 lead in the all-time series, which began Dec. 10, 1947. In addition, the Cougars have posted a 7-1 all-time record against the Cajuns in Houston.

However, Louisiana can boast of the most recent success and enter Tuesday's contest as winners of the last three games against the Cougars. Houston has not defeated Louisiana since a 75-51 victory on Feb. 3, 1987, in Houston.

This will be the first meeting since an 81-67 Louisiana win in Lafayette, La., on Jan. 3, 2004. It will be the first showdown in Houston since a 72-56 Cajun win on Jan. 4, 2003.

UP NEXT
Following Tuesday's game, the Cougars will play three consecutive road games, beginning at 3 p.m., Saturday, against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum . From there, the team competes at LSU on Nov. 30 and plays at Sam Houston State on Dec. 4.

The Cougars return to the friendly confines of Hofheinz Pavilion at 7 p.m., Dec. 6, when they play host to Nevada.
