Louisiana brings a 1-3 overall record into Tuesday's game following a 60-55 loss to Cleveland State in Lafayette, La., on Friday. It was the Cajuns' second straight setback.
The Cajuns enjoyed a 91-66 victory against Louisiana College on Nov. 15 in Lafayette.
Junior guard David Perez leads the Cajuns with 13.3 points per game. Senior guard Randell Daigle ranks second on the team with 12.8 points per contest and is one of four Cajuns averaging double-digit points.
Senior forward Travis Bureau paces the team with 7.9 rebounds per contest.
Now in his first year at Louisiana, head coach Bob Marlin has posted a 1-3 (.250) record with the Cajuns. He assembled a 225-131 (.632) recorded at Sam Houston State from 1998 to 2010.
SERIES HISTORY vs. LOUISIANA
Houston owns a 7-6 lead in the all-time series, which began Dec. 10, 1947. In addition, the Cougars have posted a 7-1 all-time record against the Cajuns in Houston.
However, Louisiana can boast of the most recent success and enter Tuesday's contest as winners of the last three games against the Cougars. Houston has not defeated Louisiana since a 75-51 victory on Feb. 3, 1987, in Houston.
This will be the first meeting since an 81-67 Louisiana win in Lafayette, La., on Jan. 3, 2004. It will be the first showdown in Houston since a 72-56 Cajun win on Jan. 4, 2003.
Following Tuesday's game, the Cougars will play three consecutive road games, beginning at 3 p.m., Saturday, against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum . From there, the team competes at LSU on Nov. 30 and plays at Sam Houston State on Dec. 4.
The Cougars return to the friendly confines of Hofheinz Pavilion at 7 p.m., Dec. 6, when they play host to Nevada.
